Betty J. Boswell
Died March 18, 2015

TRAVERSE CITY – Betty Jane Boswell, 72, of Traverse City, passed away March 18, 2015 at her home.
Betty was born in Ludington to Lionel and Lucille (Seifferlein) Boswell.
Betty graduated from Ludington High School.  Gardening was her passion, especially growing flowers for the Traverse City Farmers Market which she managed for 16 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Schwendiman of Boise, Idaho; Betty was close to her nephew, Curtis Cluckey, who joined her in her Traverse City adventures; six grandchildren, Barret, Blake, Blaine, Shanae, Sadie, and Alexis; four sisters, Donna, Marcia, Barbara, and Nora Irene; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorraine.
Private family services have been held.

Theresa B. Mikowski
Died March 9, 2015

KASSON TOWNSHIP – Theresa Bernadette Mikowski, 89, of Cedar passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Maple Valley Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Theresa was born April 18, 1925 in Cedar the daughter of Walter and Salomea (Peplinski) Popa.  On June 28, 1947 at the Holy Rosary Church of Isadore, she married her loving husband of thirty eight years, Leonard George Mikowski, who preceded her in death on June 12, 1986.

Theresa was the bedrock of strength and love for her family.  She was a co-owner of Mikowski’s IGA in Cedar.  Theresa was a lady of deep faith, praying the Rosary every night.  The family fondly remembers Sunday breakfast, gatherings at the home and playing cards on the front porch.  She was an excellent cook and always had a wonderful smile.

She put herself second to the needs of her family and especially her daughter, Lori.  Theresa was dedicated to Lori; her round the clock care of her daughter accomplished miracles.  With Theresa's assistance Lori was able to overcome many physical and mental disabilities.  She wouldn’t let her daughter be treated differently from other children.

 Theresa is survived by her children, Joanne (Scott) Flaska, David (Carol) Mikowski, Donald (Patti) Mikowski, Dwayne Mikowski, Roger (Shelly) Mikowski; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Mikowski; a sister, Sally Thoreson; a sister-in-law, Bernice Winowiecki; twenty four grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, a son, Daniel, a daughter, Lori; and her siblings, Matilda, Martha, Jessie, Helen, Betty, Suzie, Maryann, Anthony, John, Stanley, Teddy and Walter Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13 at the Holy Rosary Parish of Isadore with the Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.  The mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 with the family greeting friends one hour prior also at Holy Rosary Parish.  A luncheon will follow the mass in the parish basement.  Father Donald Libby will serve as celebrant.  Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery of Isadore will be announced in the spring.

Harry S. Nichols Jr.
Died March 3, 2015

SUTTONS BAY – Harry Sherman Nichols, Jr., 85, of Suttons Bay, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home. Harry was born March 5, 1929, in Detroit, MI, the son of Harry and Marguerite (Engel) Nichols.

  Harry is survived by his children, Lynn M. Nichols of Boulder, Colorado, Cynthia (Peter) N. Pollak of Nanoose Bay, B.C., and Carey M. Nichols of Troy, MI; and his grandchildren, Nichole V. Pollak and Simon E. Pollak.

  A true “gentle-man” of stoic dignity, generosity and wit, the lives of those who knew Harry are indeed the richer.

Karen J. Hall
Died March 1, 2015
LAKE LEELANAU — Karen Jo (Anderson) Hall, 58, of Lake Leelanau, passed away peacefully March 1, 2015 at home with family by her side. 
Karen was born on Aug. 4, 1956 in St. Johns, the daughter of John Vernon and Phyllis Joan (Sousley) Anderson.  On April 29, 2005 in Leland, she married Mark Randall Hall, who survives. 
Anyone who knew Karen knew how passionate she was about music.  She instilled this passion into every aspect of her life, from raising her children to her career with Leelanau County.  She used her gift to reach out and bring joy to all who heard her sing, most recently with the Grand Traverse Show Chorus.  A dedicated wife and loving mother, Karen was always positive and brought happiness with her wherever she went.  
In addition to her loving husband, Karen is survived by her children, John (Roxanne) Gleason, Daniel Gleason, and Carrie (Noe) Mosqueda; grandchild, Coralie and a grandbaby due in August; her mother, Phyllis Anderson; siblings, Phillip (Bev) Anderson; Aunt Helen (Charles) Huntington, Uncle Fred (Lee) Lewis, Uncle Howard (Dorothy) Sousley; cousins, Linda (Robert) Williams, Jeremy Lewis, Maureen (Dale) Scott, Sandy (Bill) Buyak, and Scott (Rhonda) Sousley; niece, Autumn (Donald) Jurek,; nephew, Paul (Hollie) Anderson; grand nephews, Noah, Oliver, and Henry Jurek and Cole and Eli Anderson. 
She was preceded in death by her father, John and brother, Michael. 
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, March 8 at Suttons Bay Congregational Church.  The Reverend Dr. Robin Long will officiate.  Burial will be held at a later date.
