Jeanne Marie Nielsen died June 1, 2017.  She was born April 1, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to Carl Joseph  and Edith Angela (Redding) Florian. 

                                                           

Jeanne grew up in Toledo with her parents and siblings, Ginny, Jack and Marge.

During WWII at a USO canteen Jeanne met Walter Haugaard Nielsen, a pilot-in-training, from Omaha, Nebraska. 

                                               

Jeanne and Walt married January 3, 1947. They raised eight children, making many moves, including a three year stay in the Netherlands. 

Jeanne and Walt retired to a home on Lake Leelanau.  There for more than 30 years she enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved living on the lake.     

Jeanne is survived by children Nancy Dack, Richard Nielsen, Karen Nielsen (Fred Bimber), Jeffrey Nielsen, Judy Nielsen, Randy Nielsen (Marlene Goormastic), Mary Nielsen (Joe Wilson),  Jennifer Nielsen (Chuck Ransom), a brother John “Jack” Florian (Arlene) and sister Marjorie Ronau (Robert), 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.         

Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Walt, and a sister, Ginny.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9 with the family greeting friends at 10 a.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Keswick Maple Gove Cemetery.  Father Michael Janowski will serve as celebrant.
