NORTHPORT - Barbara Frances (Fox) Bartley, age 98 of Grosse Pointe Woods and Northport, MI died September 22, 2017 at Tendercare of Leelanau in Suttons Bay, MI. Born and raised in Detroit, MI she was the daughter of the late Edward & Josephine (Noll) Fox. She is survived by her daughter: Sharon (Sherry) and son-in-law Richard Koenig of Northport and daughter-in-law Marilyn Trent Bartley and grandson Edward (Ted) Bartley of Grosse Pointe Woods.

Barbara was raised in Detroit and was a 1937 graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart on Lawrence Avenue. On October 6, 1942 she married her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Arthur Lloyd, who preceded her in death on December 4, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her two sons, Robert Lloyd in 2011 and Edward Arthur in 2015.

Barbara was a dedicated volunteer at St. John Hospital in Detroit where she volunteered for 24 years primarily in the Fontebonne Gift Shop giving countless of hours of help and support. She was a member of the Fontbonne Society at the hospital and also a long time sustaining member of the Christ Child Society of Detroit. 

She moved to Northport in 2007 along with her daughter and son-in-law to enjoy the peace and beauty of northern Michigan. She enjoyed volunteering for the Northport Community Arts Center (NCAC), the Northport Museum (Northport Area Heritage Association) assisting with mailings, etc. when needed as well as the Northport Lions Club in preparing a multitude of napkin and utensil packs for their annual fly-in pancake breakfast each summer held at Woolsey Airport.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay.  Interment in the family columbarium will be held at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
