BAY – Darlene Mary Plamondon, 71, of Suttons Bay, passed away Wednesday, Jan.
23, 2019 at home.
Darlene
was born March 24, 1947 in Lake Leelanau the daughter of Walter Paul Plamondon
and Elizabeth Mary (Boutain) Plamondon.
Darlene
graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the class of 1965. She then attended and graduated from Central
Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Darlene taught school for a year in St.
John’s and then moved to New Hampshire.
For over fifteen years Darlene worked as a housekeeper and cook for Our
Lady of the Lakes Parish.
Darlene
moved back to Leelanau County and worked as a graphic artist for the Leelanau
Enterprise. She was an accomplished
artist and photographer; Darlene enjoyed gardening, reading and studying nature
and the stars. She cherished her nieces
and nephews. Darlene valued the
friendships she made, and even kept in contact with friends from high
school. In her later years, she enjoyed
the company of her two cats.
Darlene
is survived by her siblings, Rose M. (Richard) Send, David J. (Shirley) Plamondon,
Ruth A. (William) Frasher, Mildred J. (William) Hathaway, Elizabeth L.
(Michael) Zeits; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents.
Burial
in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lake Leelanau will be announced in the spring.
