VANDERBILT – Mary Myrtle Michaelsen, 72, of Vanderbilt passed away on April 9, 2019 at Munson Medical Center.

Mary was born on June 29, 1946 in Gaylord, the daughter of Fenton and Shirley (Swank) Willman. 

After graduating from Gaylord High School, Mary went on to get a degree in nursing from North Central College in Petoskey.  She worked at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey for many years before settling down into retirement.

She enjoyed reading and sewing, and even made her nephews’ Halloween costumes.  She loved her nephews and her two cats, Mork and Mindy.

Mary is survived by her sister, Loree (Duane) Straubel; her nephews, Michael (Stacey) Straubel, and David (Pam) Straubel; and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Paul Michaelsen, in 2011.

Private family services have been held.
