Julius A. Nelson, Jr.
Died September 6, 2017
TRAVERSE CITY – Julius Adolph Nelson,
Jr., 84, of Bingham Twp., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Munson Medical
Center.
Julius was born on Feb. 27, 1933 in
Suttons Bay, the son of Julius and Hilma (Larson) Nelson.
Julius graduated
Suttons Bay High School and Northwestern Michigan College. He was a Korean war veteran serving in the
U.S. Army spending 18 months in France. Julius
worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 30 years. He was active in Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Suttons Bay. He was a member of the Sons
of Norway and American Legion Post 120. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Julius traveled to almost every state in the U.S. and many countries,
including Europe, Canada, and Mexico. He
enjoyed wintering in Gulf Shores, AL.
Julius is survived by his children,
James, Michael, Richard (Mary), and Michelle (Dave Trowbridge) Nelson;
grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) and Katelyn (Cody); great-grandchildren, Benito,
Jadyn, Lilah, and Colton; a brother, Melvin (Jean) Nelson; a sister, Phyllis
Richard; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lena Brown.
He was preceded
in death by his wife, Billie Burn; by a sister, Annette Trotter; and a brother,
Albert Nelson; and a daughter in law, Dianne Edwards.
A memorial service will be held at 11
a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Suttons Bay with the
family greeting friends at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at Suttons Bay Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Ruth Overdier will officiate.
