Marie T. Richards
Died March 11, 2018
TRAVERSE CITY – Marie Therese Richards, 91,
of Traverse City and formerly of Suttons Bay, passed away Sunday, March 11,
2018 at Munson Medical Center.
Marie was born on Dec. 14, 1926 in Detroit,
the daughter of Alphonsus and Anna (Ruetz) Baumann. On Aug. 21, 1948 in Detroit, she married her
loving husband of 67 years, Donald Lloyd Richards, who preceded her in death on
Sept. 15, 2015.
Marie attended St. Mary's High School of
Redford.
She then attended and graduated from
Marygrove College and continued on to achieve her Master’s Degree in Education. Marie briefly taught at Immaculate Conception
School in Detroit.
After moving to Suttons Bay in 1966 Marie
then taught at St. Michael's School. She
then taught at Suttons Bay Public Schools until she retired in 1991. Marie and Don enjoyed traveling, boating
around Suttons Bay and winter trips to Florida.
Marie is survived by her four children,
Joanne M. Brown, Janet L. Pugh, Thomas E. Richards, Donald Paul Richards; nine
grandchildren, Brian, Maria, Mike, Randy, Jonathan, Erica, Meghann, Allison,
and Katelin; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles J. Baumann; and
sister, Pauline A. Wright.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16
from 4 p.m. to the 7 p.m. rosary at Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay. The memorial mass will be celebrated on
Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel, Suttons Bay. Burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery will be at a
later date. Fr. Leonard Paul will serve
as celebrant.
