Rose Marie Chippewa
Died
October 7, 2013
SUTTONS BAY – Rose Marie (Weese) Chippewa,
60, of Suttons Bay, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by
her loving family.
Rose was born on May 7, 1953 in Frost Proof, FL, the daughter of Willard
William Wendall Weese and Gertrude Marie Schocko. On Oct. 23, 1993 she married Donald Joseph
Chippewa who preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2012.
Rose
loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She loved to have parties
for the holidays and get the family together.
Her dream job was to become a gill net fisherwoman, and that came true
when her and her husband Don purchased a boat.
They loved to spend time on the water, and
fish. When they were home, Rose and Don
loved to make black ash baskets. They
would spend hours dying black ash and then making the baskets. For fun, she and Don would go to the Casino,
and spend hours on the penny and nickel machines.
Her
favorite show was “I Love Lucy,” and she would watch old re-runs on TV
Land. She loved to wear black when she
was young, and you would rarely catch her wearing anything other than
jeans. But later in her life, she began
to like the colors pink, yellow, and other bright colors. Her favorite color was Dark green, and she
loved to drive her big truck.
But the most important thing to her was to
make sure her family was okay. She would
let anyone in her family move in with her, and many family members did. There were many years where not only family,
but friends would live with her. And
that is how she liked it. She always
liked to help people.
Rose is survived by her three daughters, Christa Ann Gasca, Ruth Hetzel,
and Yvette Rose Weese; siblings, Francis J. Weese, Margaret A. Cook, Elizabeth
J. Cook, JoAnne Cook-Gasco, Patricia M. Mejia-Cook; six grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Rose was preceded in death by her sister,
Debra K. Weese.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. until the
start of the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons
Bay. Mr. Paul Raphael will officiate.
