I met Dave when he was hired at the sheriff's office. I met him initially as a student in the academy. Eventually I had the luck to work with him in the south county courthouse in 2009-2010. Dave fit in with the police culture although his sense of humor set him apart. Dave's laugh was contagious and his work in a very volatile environment was lightened by his humor. He never got anyone upset- either colleague or citizen. He persisted through the cancer diagnosis and kept working. The news of Dave's passing has hit the sheriff's office very hard. God Bless you and thanks Dave for making the job a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI also had the honor of working with Dave at the Sarsota Courthouse. Our common sence of humor was incredible. We often spoke about being Christians and that we were blessed by having wonderful wives and families. He will be missed by all. Godspeed my brother in Christ.
ReplyDeleteVicki and Family --- Picked up the Muskegon Chronicle yesterday and was shocked to read of Dave's passing... So very sorry for your loss. George & Helene (Wirkutis) Secord...
ReplyDeleteTo Vickie, Ryan and family, We are so very sorry to hear this sad news. We will always remember Dave as a friend and wonderful neighbor in Venice. He and Bill had many laughs and great conversations out in the front yards. We couldn't have asked for better and more caring neighbors. Dave was a brave, cheerful and good man. He will be missed by many, including the two of us. Our love and deep sympathy to all of you. Kay and Bill
