Louis R. Veresh
Died November 6, 2014

SUTTONS BAY – Louis Robert Veresh, 93, of Suttons Bay, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Louis, a man of great integrity, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was born on July 13, 1921 in Detroit, the son of Joseph and Mary (Molnar) Veresh.  On Aug. 6, 1949, at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Detroit, he married Helen Szorcsik, who survives.
As a young man Louis served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a commissioned officer and pilot where he developed his love of flying.  After he was honorably discharged and focused on building a family with his wife, Helen, and in building a career in electrical engineering.
His strong work ethic and ability to engineer everything better than when it had been originally built, reflected in his success as an engineer in the automotive industry with Ford Motor Company, LaSalle Machine Tool and Acme Cleveland.
He provided a very loving and comfortable life for his family.  His love of the water resulted in purchasing land and building a cottage on Traverse Bay in the 60s.  The cottage and the beautiful waters of Traverse Bay created a vacation home for his family with many wonderful memories of summer vacations.
He and Helen retired, making the Suttons Bay community that they loved, their permanent home in 1984, where they enjoyed the next chapter of their lives as loving grandparents.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, Louis is survived by his children, Dawn (Dennis) Spencer, Robert (Kathy) Veresh, and Veronica (John) Moyer; grandchildren, Katelin (Evan) Meffert, Brad Spencer, Nathaniel Veresh (Fiona McCoy), Renee Veresh, Chelsea (Torben) Boehrnsen, Kali Moyer, and Lexi Moyer.
He was preceded in death by his children, Dean, David, and Kenneth Veresh; brothers, Joe, Steve, and Bill Veresh; and sisters, Eva Tatar and Mary Stedman.
While we celebrate the gift God gave each of us with Louis, we with extreme sadness say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend until we are all together again in God’s loving embrace.
Visitation will be held today, Nov. 14 from 4 to 8 pm at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at 12 noon with the family greeting friends at 11 a.m.  Reverend Tom W. Otis will officiate.
Memorials may be directed to Munson Hospice, c/o Home Hospice, 1105 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI, 49684 and/or Leelanau Christian Neighbors, PO Box 32, Suttons Bay, MI 49682.

I will always remember Mr Veresh as a father figure during my young years growning up with his daughter Dawn, whom to this day is my best friend. Mr. Veresh always greeted you with a smile and enjoyed calling me Jannie instead of Jan. A sweet, loving man that will be missed by his close and extended family. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all during this time of greif.

We didn't know Mr. Veresh, but do presume that his son Bob is a reflection of Mr. Veresh's influence. That would make him a great man. We have kept the family in our prayers, and will continue to do so.

I will always remember Louis looking out for me while swimming. He kept track of me and always had something sweet and something funny to say before I left. He often warned me to not swim alone but I told him there were no worries....he was there watching and making sure I was alright. Will miss you, Louis. Love, Dottie

I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Louis. He was always a bright spot on the beaches of Cherry Cove.

We are so sorry to hear of Louie's passing. I worked with Louie at LaSalle Machine Tool company in Warren, Michigan from 1972 until he moved up to Cadillac. He was a wonderful man, taught me alot! Later, when my father Gus Autenrieth and his wife Jane moved up to Sutton's Bay, they lived just around the bend from Louie and Helen, and also became good friends. They would go to dinner together on occasion, and Louie would always tease my dad Gus about his "rubber necking" while he was driving. Louie was a great man, good friend, and will be missed. We will fondly remember Louie, Sincerely, Mark and Mary Kay Autenrieth
