NORTHPORT – Myra Mae Priest, 87, formerly of Northport passed away on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Munson Medical Center.
  Myra was born June 3, 1927 in Tipler, Wisconsin the daughter of Myron and Margaret (Doniek) Toole.  The family lived in Wisconsin for 6 months and then moved to Milwaukee during the next three years.  Later they moved to Traverse City and Myra attended Oak Park School.  Her childhood was spent on farms sometimes tending to over 100 chickens, pigs and working in the garden.
  Later in life Myra lived in Detroit and worked in Sander Stores.  After moving back to Traverse City she worked as a waitress at Roko’s Drugs on Front Street and then Munson Medical Center for 32 years in the dietary department.  On Oct. 21, 1972 she married her husband of 32 years, James Albion Priest who preceded her in death on April 19, 2005.
  Myra was famous for her Fantasy Fudge and Divinity Candy that she made during Christmas time.  She collected all kinds of recipes, and crocheted and knitted blankets that have become heirlooms to her family.
  She owned cats all her life, and all of them were named Bubbins.  She loved to play Keno, enjoyed meals at the Flap Jack Shack and brunches at Eddie’s Village Inn of Suttons Bay.  After a meal at Eddies she would walk across the street to Boone’s Prime Time Pub and have a seat at the bar. 
  Myra enjoyed old western movies, loved to bowl in her youth and would not change a diaper to save her life; but she dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
  Myra is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Jeff) LeFevre, two granddaughters, Erin Bembeneck, Leslie (Jared) Wacker, a great granddaughter, Libby, a great grandson, Bo; a sister in law, Nancy (Stan) Priest; a brother in law, Dave (Renata) Priest and Don Priest.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her parents.
  Private family burial in Omena Hillcrest Cemetery will be held at a later date.
