Marion N. Grout
Died Dec. 25, 2014
SUTTONS BAY - Marion Grout, 93, passed away while visiting with family
in Highland Park, IL, on the evening of December 25, 2014.
Marion was born to Albert B. and
Lucile Warner Neuenswander September 20, 1921 in Oakdale, Nebraska. She attended the Lincoln School of Commerce
in Lincoln, Nebraska and Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Marion was married to then Navy Lt. James D.
Allen in Omaha, Nebraska on July 2,1944, he died November 25, 1972. She was married to Roy K. Thomas, Jr. in
Northport on October 11, 1975 and he died September 10, 1979. Marion married to Richard A. (Dick) Grout in
Suttons Bay on May 3, 1986, who survives.
Marion was a member of Suttons
Bay Congregational Church. She served on
several Church boards and committees.
Marion was a member of Little Garden Club of Leelanau County, member of
Chapter EM PEO; she served as President of Northport Woman's Club and Leelanau
Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Marion enjoyed traveling with
her husband, visiting such places as Venice, Malta, Moscow, Fiji, Australia,
Morocco, Holland, Istanbul, Greek Islands, Norway, China, Alaska, Egypt and
South Africa. In recent years she took
pleasure in small ship river cruises throughout Western Europe, the midwest and
Pacific northwest.
Marion is survived by daughters
Janet Allen (Jerrold) Beger of Highland Park, IL, Catherine Allen (Jeff) Hufford
of Hinsdale, IL; stepchildren Donna (Francois) Mouzard of Gatineau, Quebec,
Douglas (Janet) Grout of Jefferson, Ohio, Bruce (Carol) Grout of Holcomb,
Georgia; her sisters, Joan Harvey of Omaha, Nebraska, Claudia Beck of
Louisville, Kentucky, and Dr. Sue Green of Baltimore, Maryland; her grandchildren
Jonathan Beger, Justin (Denise)Beger, Matthew Hufford, Lindsay (Chris) Frost;
step grandchildren Christian (Anile) Mouzard, Stephanie (Jesse) Bowden, Ian
Grout, Travis (Liz) Grout, and Kaitlin and Hunter Grout and five great
grandsons.
A memorial service will take
place at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16 at the Suttons Bay Congregational
Church with family greeting friends a half hour prior.
