Helen R. Coil
Died Jan. 12, 2015

TRAVERSE CITY – Helen Rosella Phlipot Renollet Coil, 95, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  May we celebrate a life lived well and a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt well loved.
Helen was born on December 9, 1919 in Paulding, Ohio the daughter of Raymond and Marie (Kummerant) Phlipot.
Helen lost her birth mother at the age of 4. Living on the family farm with her father and brother Lawrence and sister Christine was a memorable time in Helen’s life.  She was always thankful for growing up in a Catholic family with Christian teachings and starting and ending each day in prayer. A special time in Helen’s life was spending time with her Aunt Laura in Centerville Michigan.
Helens father Raymond remarried in 1928 to Hazel Copsey and they started their new life together. Lawrence, Helen and Christine were blessed with 8 new siblings to love and cherish along with the helping hand of her Aunt Pearl.  (Hazel’s sister)
Helen met her future husband Daniel Calvin Renollet in 1939. Daniel was drafted in 1941 and they married in January 1942. While Daniel was serving his country, Helen worked at General Electric until his return in 1945. They resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana, raising their 5 children until Daniel’s untimely death to polio in 1950.
In 1952, Helen met Curtis E. Coil. They married in 1954 with Curtis Junior joining the family.  In 1954, Curtis and Helen moved to Traverse City.  In 1956 Curt and Helen started Front Street Body Shop and in 1958 relocated the business next to the old sale barns livestock yard; thus the name Sales Barns Body and Radiator (now Superior Collision).
Helen and Curt had 4 more children.  Helen’s life was filled with the love of her family and the church family at Immaculate Conception where she has been a member of the congregation since 1954. Helen and Curt shared their love of music, dancing and traveling.  Curtis preceded her in death in 2000.
May she rest in peace with her life’s work well done, may God’s perpetual light shine upon her and her light shine upon the family she so loved.
Helen is survived by her children, Linda (George) Hoffmeister, Daniel (Elaine) Renollet, Janice Chapman, Helen Renollet, James (Sandy) Coil, Cindy (Pierre) Odum, Pam Ruthenberg, Michael (Christine) Coil, step-daughter Martha (Michael) Scalf, 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, her brother Harold, and her sisters Laura and Dorothy; additionally, many nieces and nephews will remember her kindness, as will many friends.
