A Soldier for Christ
ReplyDeleteAll of us will miss Christine A. Schlueter. Some of us more than others but to be sure its will be a great many people. One highlight of our memories of Chris and family comes from a family get-together at Aunt Inza's home on the Leland river. The river itself is not known for good fishing. But little Sean was determined to catch a fish. And he sure did. A long cast across the river produced a dandy small mouth bass. Fishermen will tell you these are the scrappiest of fresh water fish. After a protracted battle, Sean, with a little help, finally brought his prize to shore. He simply beamed over his accomplishment. Everyone cheered and let him know he had done something spectacular. He really had. None of us knew at that time that Sean would not be with us much longer. It was the bitterest of pills to swallow when we learned Chris had called him home sparing him from the horrible fight he was headed for. We watched Chris and David swallow their human emotions and continue with life accepting God's final wisdom. It seemed unfair yet through their faith they did not stumble over the awful tragedy and went on to accept the bounty God holds for believers. It was a true demonstration of the power of faith. Likewise Chris fought an amazing battle with a foe that could not be denied. We never heard a complaint from her. Instead, Donna and Chris shared the experience of hunting down antiques and learning about them. She is gone and it leaves a hole for those of us privileged to have known her. We know that God has chosen wisely. We will always admire the strength and grace of Christine Schlueter. To David and the immediate family we for the best. We know God is the center of their strength and that they will continue in life to demonstrate the power of faith. We can only thank them for sharing the time of a truly wonderful and great lady.
