James D. Taylor

SUTTONS BAY – James Donald “JT” Taylor, 69, of Suttons Bay, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at his home.

  JT was born May 28, 1946 in Lansing the son of Donald and Helen (Sackett) Taylor.  On Aug. 17, 2000 in Suttons Bay he married Susan Marie (Ries) Taylor who survives.

  As a young man James served his nation in the U.S. Navy and saw service in Vietnam.  Afterwards he became a skilled trade worker at the Oldsmobile manufacturing plant in Lansing.  JT loved NASCAR, drag racing and sailing.  He loved any chance to sail anywhere he could get a boat.  JT also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. 

  JT is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Rachelle (Rick) Hamm, Sherrie Zmyslowski; former son-in-law, Eric Zmyslowski; five grandchildren, Anthony, Richard, Lindsey, Zach, Mikayla; and one great granddaughter, Chloe Jean Marie Hawk.

  He was preceded in death by his parents.

  Private family services have been held.
