NORTHPORT – Constance Joan Arnfield, 82, of Northport, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Effie’s Assisted Living in Leland.

Constance was born on July 28, 1933 in Detroit, the daughter of Theron and Grace (Hayes) O’Connell.  On May 12, 1990 in Rochester, she married Edwin A. Arnfield, who survives.

After graduating from Cooley High School in Detroit, Constance went on to earn her A.A. from Macomb Community College, as well as a B.A. and M.A. in Psychology from Oakland University.  She was a psychologist in private practice for 23 years.  Constance enjoyed quilting and was an avid photographer.

In addition to her loving husband of almost 26 years, Constance is survived by her son, Ronald (Donna) McEachern; son-in-law, Thomas Polony; step-children, Linda (Perry) Brumm, Laurel (David) Frogner, and Matthew (Nancy) Maddock; grandchildren, Linden Grace McEachern, James Polony, Rachel, Charlotte, and Sarah Brumm, Erica, Madeline, and Kristen Frogner; brother, Thomas (Maria) O’Connell; and dear friend, Sharon Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathleen Polony, and granddaughter, Brittany Polony.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6 at 11 a.m. with family greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the Trinity Church, United Church of Christ in Northport.  Rev. Phil Garrison will officiate.  Burial will follow at Leelanau Township Cemetery.

  1. Connie was a beautiful person, and I loved her. She made all of her friends feel special, and that was a gift she gave every day.

    Connie was an intelligent,creative, sensitive person. She loved her family, gardening, quilting, and fighting for a just cause. I was honored to call her my friend. She will be missed.
