Harriet M. Drow
Died Nov. 16, 2016

LAKE LEELANAU – Harriet Mary Drow, 93, of Lake Leelanau, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016 at Tendercare of Leelanau with her loving family by her side.
Harriet was born March 15, 1923 in Centerville Township the daughter of Louis T. and Rosella (Ducheney) Plamondon.  On May 17, 1941 at St. Mary’s Church of Lake Leelanau she married Wallace J. Drow who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1985.
She was life-long member of St. Mary’s Church of Lake Leelanau.  Harriet was a member of the Bells of St. Mary’s assisting in quilting projects.  She baked pies for many church chicken dinners and St. Mary’s School students of the 1970’s might remember her as the lunch lady.
Harriet was a homemaker extraordinaire, canning fruits and vegetables from the garden that Wallace grew.  Her family remembers her Cherry Wilson pies.  Her boys remember that she could cook up anything that they hunted, racoon, squirrels and deer.  Her husband was an avid fisherman and Harriet could cook anything he caught like bass, perch and trout.
She loved animals especially her cat and birds.  She would pray the rosary every day and the bird would recite it along with her.  A favorite way for her to pass the day was to watch the birds eat from her birdfeeder.  A child of the Great Depression she knew the value of money and treasured having a pocket of coins and being able to provide for her family from the products of the family farm.
Harriet was proud of raising eleven children to all graduate from St. Mary’s Schools.  She was proud of having two sons serving in the military during Vietnam and all today are hardworking contractors.  Harriet loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.  Even into her golden years she could play a mean game of euchre and pepper!
Harriet is survived by her eleven children, Robert (Phyllis) Drow, Jean (Jim) Grant, Oscar (Elder) Drow, Elizabeth (Duane) Bardenhagen, Shirley (Dave) Miller, Daniel (Corinne) Drow, Thomas (Delores) Drow, Rose (Wencil) Korson, Greg Drow, Michael (Julie) Drow, Mary (Ken) Lautner; thirty-four grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; and her brother, Albert, Andrew, Dennis and Francis Plamondon; and sisters, Elizabeth Petroskey, Theresa Zywicki, Marcella Pleva and Lucille Plamondon.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. with the rosary at 7 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the mass.  Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery will follow the mass.  Fr. Michael Janowski will serve as celebrant.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Church, P.O. Box 340, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653.
Condolences may be shared with the Drow family below:
