Cecilia L. Dunklow
Died Dec. 20, 2016
LAKE LEELANAU – Cecilia
Louise Dunklow, 86, of Lake Leelanau, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at
Cherry Hill Haven surrounded by her loving family.
Cecilia was born on
Aug. 27, 1930 in Centerville Township, the daughter of Stephen and Josephine
(Witkowski) Pleva. On Oct. 17, 1953 at
Holy Rosary Church, Isadore, she married Orville William Dunklow who preceded
her in death on Nov. 22, 2006.
Cecilia’s family fondly
remembers homemade chili, bread, the best ham in the world and never leaving
the family farm house without getting fed.
She loved to play card games like pepper until 2 a.m. and afterwards
have a luncheon.
She was a homemaker
extraordinaire; serving dinner to everyone first and only then would she
eat. Cecilia was always ready to help
friends and family. She never had a bad
thing to say about anyone.
Cecilia loved a full
house of kids and especially grandchildren.
She was a lady of faith and family who prayed the Rosary every morning
and evening.
Cecilia is survived by
her nine children, William S. (Mary Anne) of Leland, Suzanne (Richard)
Plamondon of Lake Leelanau, Dave (Joan) of Suttons Bay, Ron (Deborah Richards)
of Suttons Bay, Gerry (Shirley) of Lake Leelanau, Donna (Ed) Eckerle of Lake
Leelanau, Sandi (Terry) Gilland of Lake Leelanau, Lori (Wayne) Kilway of Cedar,
Jeff (fiancée Angie Bremer) of Lake Leelanau; twenty-four grandchildren; and
nineteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her
husband of 53 years, Cecilia was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret
Josephine Dunklow; and two brothers, Richard and Leonard Pleva.
Visitation will be held
from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26 with the Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at
the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at St. Mary
Church, Lake Leelanau. Fr. Ben Rexroat
will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow
in the spring at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Isadore.
Memorials may be
directed to St. Mary Church/School, P.O. Box 340, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653 and/or

Condolences may be shared with the Dunklow family below:
I am thankful that my paths crossed with Cecelia and her family. We spent many hours together and I count them as true blessings.
ReplyDeleteCecelia's face lit up when her kids came through the door!
It seems her favorite treats were Hershey kisses and Coke!
She had a wonderful laugh.
When Hudson, a 9 month old baby, came to visit Cecelia reached for him and giggled when they touched noses!
Rest in peace lovely lady, Cecelia.
We did not have the good fortune to know your mother, but it is evident that she was an incredible lady. You are in our hearts and prayers. Dan and Lil
