Sally Stonehouse

TRAVERSE CITY – Sally
Stonehouse (Konold), 88, of Traverse City and formerly of Suttons Bay, passed
away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Traverse Victorian Inn with her daughter by
her side.
Sally was born on May
21, 1928 in Bay City. Her given name was
Mariella May. The daughter of Leslie
John and Ella Mary (Bernthal) Stonehouse.
In 1951, in Detroit, she married Matthew John Konold, who preceded her
in death in 1999.
She graduated from Valparaiso
University and Michigan State University with a degree in Art &
Literacy. Sally loved animals, nature,
The Arts, history, literature, and being with her family.
Sally is survived by
her children, Katherine Hill of Ishpeming, Mary (Jim) Rupert of Lake Ann, and Ann (Tom)
LaBonte of Traverse City, John "Jack" Konold of Sante Fe, NM; grandchildren, Andy
and Tom Hill, Sarah Johnson, Ben Rupert, Abraham, Daniel, and Bess LaBonte, and
Frankie Konold; great-grandchildren, Noah and Kaitlyn Hill, Ian Johnson, Dylan
and Kyle Johnson, and Soona and Bodhi Rupert; cousin, Mark Bernthal; and special friends, Bob and Marsha
Walton, Ken and Betty Krantz.
A memorial service will
be held on Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the
Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay with family greeting friends one hour
prior. Rev. Ben Schultz will officiate.
