CEDAR – Elizabeth
Electa Porter, 80, of Cedar, died peacefully on April 27, 2017 at home with
family by her side.
Elizabeth was born on
April 27, 1936, in Lapeer, MI, to Hugh and Minnie (Seames) Coulter. She graduated from Lapeer High School and
completed two years at Michigan State College before marrying Robert J. Porter
on Nov. 10, 1956. At age 40, she
returned to Michigan State University and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees and completed her PhD coursework in Higher Education
Administration. Before finishing her
dissertation, Elizabeth was accepted into New York University’s Stern School of
Business immersion program for academics and remained in New York until
retiring from her career as a human resources and executive outplacement
consultant with Lee Hecht Harrison. An
avid gardener, Elizabeth was active in the Herbal Renewal Club and a member of
Michigan Herb Associates.
Elizabeth is survived
by her son, James, of Traverse City and daughter, Jill, of Maple City. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Robert J. Porter.
The family would like
to thank the many friends and medical professionals who supported Elizabeth
during the last ten months.
A memorial service will
be held on Thursday, May 25 at 11 a.m. at the Old
Settlers Chapel on S. Dunn’s Farm Road. Interment will be held on May 26, at 11 a.m. at Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.

49686 and/or to a charity of one’s choice.
