SUTTONS BAY – Cynthia Clotilde (Book) Bowen, 95, of Omena passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Cynthia was born November 27, 1923 in Grosse Pointe, the daughter of Herbert and Eleanore (Everard) Book. In 1947, she married Julian P. Bowen, Jr. at her parents’ home in Grosse Pointe. 
Cynthia had a great love of literature, art and nature.  At a young age, she enjoyed touring art museums and she took up painting.  She created beautiful oil paintings effortlessly. If she wasn’t reading, she was painting.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Perry (James) Carroll, Melanie Bowen, and Everard (Rhonda) Bowen; and her grandchildren, Christina Carroll and William Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian P. Bowen, Jr.; her daughter, Eleanore Bowen;  her son, Julian P. Bowen III; and her siblings, Eleanore (Betty) Kennedy, Herbert V. Book, Jr., Vivienne Jahncke and Everard Book. 

Internment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201 and/or the Leelanau Land Conservancy, PO Box 1007, Leland, MI 49654 and/or the Dennos Museum Center, 1701 East Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49686.
