Christine M. Lhamon
Died August 20, 2019
SUTTONS
BAY – Christine “Christy” Marie Lhamon, 41, of Suttons Bay, peacefully passed
away at home with her mother and father at her side on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019.
Christine
was born Oct. 2, 1977 at
Northport Memorial Hospital, one of the last babies to be born
there. Christy was the daughter of
Thomas and Marlene (Revold) Lhamon of Suttons Bay.
Christy
graduated from Suttons Bay High School and graduated from the Dental Assistant
program at Northwestern Michigan College.
After completing the Dental Assistant program, she worked for Beers and
Howard Oral Surgery, taking time off to complete additional study at Grand
Valley State University. After her time
at GVSU, Christy returned to Beers and Howard spending nearly 20 years there as
an assistant. Christy loved her work and
loved the coworkers that became part of her life and her family of friends.
Christy
was an athlete, playing both basketball and softball in high school. She took her love of sports with her after
high school playing softball until just a few years before her passing. It was normal for her to play as many as
three games per week playing both women’s league and co-ed league softball. But her favorite team was Jay’s. She developed strong friendships with her
Jay’s teammates, as well as a friendship with the team sponsor – Jay. Christy also ran several Cherry Festival 5k’s
and for a couple of years she ran with her brother, Tom, and nephew, Ian, and
niece, Chloe.
Christy
will be missed by many, but she is in a better place free of cancer. She fought a 13-year battle with brain
cancer, all the while living life to the fullest. She never gave up hope and never gave into
discouragement that goes along with such a long struggle. Christy maintained a positive attitude
throughout her battle with cancer and was an inspiration to others along the
way.
Christy
is survived by her parents, Tom and Marlene Lhamon; brothers, Thomas Lhamon of
Traverse City; and Michael (Angela Mikowski) Lhamon of Grand Rapids; nephew,
Ian Lhamon of Grand Rapids; and niece, Chloe Lhamon of Grand Rapids.
Christy
was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alvin and Eleanor Revold of
Suttons Bay as well as her paternal grandparents, Ernest and Marion Lhamon of
Buckley.
Visitation
will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 6 at the Martinson Funeral Home
of Suttons Bay.
The funeral service will
be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 7 at the Suttons Bay Congregational Church
with the family greeting friends at 10 a.m.
Rev. Dr. Robin Carden will officiate.
Private
family burial in Keswick Maple Grove Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorials
may be directed to Hospice of Michigan, 10850 E. Traverse Hwy, Traverse City,
MI 49684 and/or Hermelin Brain Tumor Center, c/o Henry Ford Hospital, 2799 W
Grand Blvd, K-11, Detroit, MI 48202.
Christy
leaves a world that was made better because of her and it is her family’s wish
that she always be remembered for her outgoing personality, her fun-loving,
positive attitude toward life.
“All
is well.
Nothing
is hurt; nothing is lost.
One
brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How
we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!”

I had the honor and privilege of working at Dr. Beers and Howard with Christy a few years ago... 2000-2006. Christy had such a twinkle and a light about her. Her love and concern for the patients she ministered to, as well as her office family, was such an encouragement and a special touch from the Lord. I will never forget her incredible smile or bike rides through cherry blossoms on the TART trail, or her sincere enjoyment of life and company of friends. I thank Jesus for this precious woman and for the incredible impact she had on many!!! You are always loved, Christy!!!
ReplyDeleteI met your beautiful daughter through Laurie Bott. She always made me smile and was so kind and thoughtful. I truly loved being around her. My heart aches for your loss and please know she was loved by me and so many others. Praying for peace and continued understanding. God Bless You All. Renee Cook

In her younger years, Christy took piano lessons from me. For one recital she asked to play Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl". I paused to read the lyrics to be sure they were appropriate in case someone knew them. It was a perfect song for her and I can see how subconsciously it became her life style. Christy is truly our "Uptown Girl".

Tom and Marlene I pray God's comfort and peace be with your family and his loving arms wrap around you in giving your precious daughter to her new heavenly home.
ReplyDeleteShe was a true inspiration to so many dealing with health issues as she faced those winds head on with determination to never quit.
I remember last year having lunch with Tom and Christy at the old shop guys reunion, I think we all enjoyed talking more to her than each other, She had such a sparkle as she spoke and smiled yet you could tell she was not feeling well. She is now free to run with that joyous spirit God blessed us all with through her life.
Sincerely, Tom and Laurie Borysiak
Dear Marlene, Tom and Family,
ReplyDeleteI knew Christy through Deb and being out on the boat and from various other gatherings. I think Christy was such a kind and beautiful soul, always with a smile that would light up the room. My sincere sympathy and condolences, Carol(John) Lesperance
