Wayne “Wayne-o” J. Chippewa Jr.

1965 ~ 2019

Wayne “Wayne-O” Johnny Chippewa Jr., 54, of Peshawbestown, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at Medilodge of Leelanau.

Wayne was born Jan. 17, 1965 in Northport the son of Wayne J. Chippewa Sr. and Carol S. (Daniels) Chippewa.

Wayne-O loved making everyone laugh and was natural born prankster.  He loved making popcorn and fry bread.  He loved cookouts and fishing.  He was a tribal fisherman and his first time fishing was with Jimmy Raphael and Bill Fowler.

Wayne-O was strong of character and conquered life’s battles and never stopped loving people.  His family loves and is proud of Wayne for his of gift of planning his services.  Wayne’s strength and loving heart shined until the end, conquering his disabilities and challenges in life.

Wayne-O is survived by his son, Ryan Brown; his dog, Fry Bread; his sisters, Yolanda Chippewa, Lela Chippewa Barrett, Pam Chippewa, Crystal Nimeth; his Aunt Dot; special friends, Harriett Marez and Lucky Mireles; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Yvonne Hope Chippewa.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home, Suttons Bay.  Visitation will continue the next day, Thursday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. until the start of the 12:00 p.m. funeral service at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Peshawbestown.  Burial will follow in St. Kateri Tekakwitha Cemetery.
