David M. Walter

1970 ~ 2020

 

TRAVERSE CITY - David Michael Walter, 50, of Traverse City, formerly of Suttons Bay, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 in Traverse City.

 

David was born February 11, 1970 in Northport’s Leelanau Memorial Hospital.  He was raised by his parents Ralph E. Walter and Leona M. (Belanger) Walter. 

 

As a child, Dave loved to play with his nieces while his mother ran the family daycare at their home.  He was active in the Suttons Bay summer softball league as a kid.  David loved to fish and hunt with his dad, Ralph, and he treasured trips to the family’s U.P. cabin.  He dabbled in guitar and loved his Guns N’ Roses.

 

David was a beloved brother and will be missed.

 

David is survived by his siblings, Vickie (Peter) Gill, Becky Walter, Dolly (Tom) Drow; his nieces, Ann, Betsy, Kristin, Katy and Ashley; his great nephew and niece, Gill and Willow; and his special friend of 25 years, Leona Nye; and his beloved dog, Anook.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Leona; and a sister, Christine Anne Walter in 1961.

 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 9 at Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.  Burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery will follow the service.  Deacon Martin Korson will officiate.
