John F. Peplinski
Died Sept. 12, 2017
CEDAR – John Felix “Bobo” Peplinski,
92, of Cedar, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at home surrounded by his
loving family and Father Donald Libby.
John was born July 15, 1925 on the
family farm in Centerville Township the son of Stanley and Mary (Darga)
Peplinski. On July 24, 1954 at Holy
Rosary Church he married JoAnn “JoJo” Helen (Glazier) Peplinski who preceded
him in death on Jan. 25, 2001.
Bobo was the unofficial mayor of
Cedar and life-long parishioner of Holy Rosary Church. All the local businesses and folks knew
him. He enjoyed winning, not just
playing, but winning at cards. John also
enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all his Detroit Tigers baseball. Bobo was a loyal Tigers baseball fan and listened
to them, with out fail, on the radio since 1935.
He was a husband and father who
always worked hard to provide for his family and keeping a roof over their
heads and food on the table. If work at
Parsons or Cone Drive wasn’t available, he would work in the orchard picking
apples to provide for his family. Bobo
could be forceful in getting his way, much to the consternation of our local
friendly conservation officers and secretary of state employees!
Bobo was a man of deep faith, he
would get on his knees in the morning, and also before bed time and pray; he
would also pray before every meal. He
was a man with a strong work ethic, deep faith and unwavering love for his
children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his numerous nieces and
nephews who knew him as Uncle Bobo.
John is survived by his children,
Susann (Daniel) Brannan, John Peplinski, Gregory Peplinski, Annmarie Popa, Lisa
Lautner; his sisters, Jean Lawson, Margaret Skeba, Rita Gomes, his
grandchildren, Amy, Terri Lynn, Benjamin, Eric, Jessica, Molly, Betsy, Paul,
Angie, Katie, Dusty, Justin, Josh; his great grandchildren, Calvin, Casey,
Michael, Alivia, Cody, Grace, Gregory, Sammuel, Logan, Lucas, Cash, Allyssa,
Wyatt, Quinn, Payton, Adian, Adeline, Elizabeth, Liddia, Finnegan and numerous
loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
loving wife of forty-six years, JoAnn; his parents, many siblings, and many
extended members of the Peplinski and Darga families.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8
p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 with the Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary
Church, Isadore. The mass will be held
at 1o:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16 also at the church with visitation one-hour
prior. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary
Cemetery. Father Donald Libby will serve
as celebrant.
Memorials may be directed to Munson
Home Hospice, 1105 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.
