Riley A. Newby
Died Sept. 25, 2016
LELAND - Riley Newby,
87, of Leland, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at the Munson Hospice House
with his loving family at his side. Riley was born Dec. 11, 1928 in
Unionville, Missouri, the son of Frank and Jessie Newby. On Aug. 6,
1950, he married his loving wife of sixty years, Joanna (Crandal) Newby
who preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2010.
Riley is
survived by his two children, Grant Newby and fiancée Rhonda Harrison, Gretchen
Newby and two grandchildren, Cassidy Stock and Cooper Stock and fiancée Emily
Clarke.
Riley
served his country while stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Riley
and Joanna travel extensively and visited all 7 continents. He
spent most of his career working in sales and marketing. His family lived
in Winnetka, Illinois, before moving to Leland, Michigan, in 1997. Riley and
Joanna purchased the Falling Waters Lodge in Leland and were grateful for
all of the wonderful guests that they met over the years. His grandson,
Cooper, will continue running the family business with help from the
family. Besides traveling, Riley enjoyed observing
nature, watching sports, playing golf, and enjoying time with family.
Memorial
services and burial will be held at a later date in Luray, Missouri.
