Daniel H.
Jamieson, Sr.
Died March 1, 2017
LELAND – Daniel
Hugh Jamieson, 88, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Munson Hospice House
surrounded by his family.
He was born April
14, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio, where he lived until moving permanently to his Leland
home in 1984. He graduated from Scott High School; then attended Princeton
University before transferring to the University of Toledo, where he received a
BA in 1951. He married Marian Wieting in 1950, and—during 56 years—raised six
children. In 1954, he and his brother
Dick founded Jamiesons’ Hi-fi (today Jamiesons’ Audio Video), one of the first
retail audio stores in Northwest Ohio. After four years of retirement, in 1987 Dan
followed a life-long passion for reading and books to become the librarian of
the Leland Township Library—a position he held for 18 years. While his passion was always his family, he
loved music from Beethoven to the American Songbook to the Beatles, was an avid
collector, and a good-humored golfer.
He was preceded in
death by his wife Marian; his parents, Burton and Irma Jamieson; his brothers, Burton,
George, David, and Dick; and his son, Todd Jamieson. He is survived by his
children, Daniel Jamieson, Jr. (Kathy), David Jamieson (Susan), Andrew Jamieson
(Robin), Marian Jamieson (Terrie), and Burton Jamieson (Shelly); 14
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family plans a
reception during summer 2017 in Leland to celebrate Dan’s life. Memorial
contributions may be made to Munson Healthcare Hospice and Palliative Care,
1105 Sixth St., Traverse City 49684 or at homehealth@mhc.net

To Andy and Family, I was sorry to read of your dad's passing in today's newspaper. I remember you mentioning how you loved traveling up north to visit him, and those memories will remain forever. My sincere condolences to you all.
