Arnold W. Zeits
Died April 29, 2019
NORTHPORT – Arnold Wayne Zeits, 76, of Northport, passed away
Monday, April 29, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Arnie was born Sep. 23, 1942 in Detroit the son of Charles Arthur
Zeits and Dorothy Priscilla (Gauthier) Zeits.
On Jan. 6, 1965 at St. Mary’s Church of Lake Leelanau; Fr. Frederick
Voss officiated, he married Barbara A. (Dalzell) Zeits who survives.
He was a nice and good man who loved fishing, NASCAR, polka music
and dogs. Arnie was always ready to help
a friend in need. He loved watching the
birds feed out of the thirty-six bird feeders that Barb set up.
Arnie and his brother Hugh loved to play baseball, throwing the
ball and batting. He loved family meals,
apple pies from his sister in law, Toot and especially strawberries. He also enjoyed the food and baked goods that
his sister-in-law Geneva made.
Arnie is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Barbara; his
brothers, Hugh (Jean) Zeits, Charles (Jackie) Zeits; his in laws; Robert (Diana
H.) Dalzell, Geneva (Ken) Graham, Regina “Toot" M. Denoyer, Maxine
(Charles) Davis; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in laws, Frank and
Elizabeth (Betty) Flees Dalzell and a brother in law, William Dalzell.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3 with the
Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on
Saturday, May 4 at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Northport with the family
greeting friends at 10:00 am at the church.
Father Leonard Paul will serve as celebrant. Burial in Leelanau Township Cemetery will be
held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Leelanau Township
Fire and Rescue, PO Box 338, Northport, MI 49670 and/or Mass Intentions.
