LELAND – Christine Lynn Anderson, 67, of Leland passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 at Medilodge of Leelanau.

Christine was born April 24, 1952 in Traverse City the daughter of Harry and Fern (Grosvenor) Garthe.  On Sep. 19, 1970 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Good Harbor she married R. Scott Anderson who survives.

Kiki was a lady with a strong will who loved her children and grandchildren.  She dearly loved spending time on South Manitou Island and her childhood and adult memories of time on the “island”.  This love for the “island” started as a child with the many trips her grandmother, Della and her aunt, Shirley; took her on.

She enjoyed gardening growing flowers and plants.  Kiki was a voracious reader who would read up to 4 novels a week.  She enjoyed reading and the friends she made in her book club.  Kiki’s family fondly remembers her love of decorating for the holidays, all holidays whether it be Christmas, Halloween, Easter or Valentine’s Day.

Kiki is survived by her loving husband of forty-nine years, Scott; her two children, Jeremy (Nicole) Anderson, Melissa (Dennis) Steinhauer; four siblings, Sue (Jeff) Butwell, Kathleen Ludwig, Peter (Donna) Garthe, Peggy Garthe; five grandchildren, Jordan and Jerimiah Anderson, Grey, Hazel and Edie Steinhauer; and many numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private graveside services will be held in the spring in Beechwood Cemetery, Leland.
