TRAVERSE CITY – Kevin Charles Raney, 52, of Traverse City, passed away, Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.


Kevin was born in Traverse City on March 7, 1967 the son of Howard and Patricia (Sterk) Raney.  On June 24, 200o in Traverse City he married Tricia J. (Dalzell) Raney who survives.  He attended Suttons Bay High School and graduated with the Class of 1985.


Kevin was a family man who saw the positive in everything.  He loved the Rolling Stones, skiing, motorcycling, zip lines, and water park rides.  Kevin was a huge jokester who teased with kindness.


He took pride in life.  Kevin would try to do right no matter what “it” was.  He would always finish a project he started and would keep a clean house and property.  Kevin spent many years working for Gordon Food Services loved working for GFS and the many friends he made that started out as customers.


Kevin is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years, Tricia; two children, Joshua (Erin) Tyrer, Tiffany ( Hunter) Raney and a granddaughter, Caroline Tyrer; his father, Howard; his siblings, Brendan (Janine) Raney, Keith Raney, Jeremy Raney, Katie Raney.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia, his grandparents, Al and Bonnie Raney and a brother, Todd Raney.


A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 with the family greeting friends at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Traverse City, 6105 Center Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686.  Dr. Gary Hogue will officiate.

Memorials may be directed to the Raney Family, 1348 Duke Hollow, Traverse City, MI 49696.

    Tricia you don't know me but Kevin's mom was was my dearest friend. Kevin and my daughter were born a couple months apart. Howard has remained a lifetime friend. I cant tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Everyone I have spoke with throughout the years has had nothing but wonderful things to say about Kevin.     Tricia, you don't know me but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear about Kevin. His mother was my dearest friend and his Dad has been a lifetime friend. Kevin and my daughter were born a couple months apart. Throughout the years people I have spoken with have had nothing but wonderful things to say about Kevin. I just wanted you to know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. Dear Tricia and Raney Family,

    I wanted to share deep sympathies for the loss of Kevin. I worked with Kevin for several years as I was the GM of the Cherry Tree Inn and he was our GFS tech guru. I can't tell you how nice it was to work with Kevin. He was easy to communicate with. Wonderfully caring. A good man. The world has lost a great soul but Heaven has gained tremendously! God bless you all. Know that your husband/family member will be remembered and missed!
